Just a little taste

I stepped inside for one quick second and came back to this

Did Tyler seriously think I wouldn't notice if he gave Robby a taste of his fudgesicle?
"But I was just letting him have a little taste, Mom."

On the move!

About a week and a half ago Robby learned how to "crawl." When he first learned to do this we thought he looked a bit like a baby sea turtle with both arms flapping forward at the same time. Sometimes he gets going a little faster than he can handle-his weight and head will be well ahead of his arms, and he ends up either face planting or flipping over on his side, but he gets right up and keeps on truck'n. I'm not so thrilled about having to baby proof my house, but I love the sound of his chubby hands slapping the tile and then seeing his cute face come around the corner into the kitchen as he tries to find me. Super cute!

torture

A few weeks ago John and Tyler headed out to re-cement the fence that has blown over on more than one occasion in our recent storms. They started in the early morning, but it was still over 100 degrees by the time they finished. The worst part of the whole project....this was staring at them from our neighbor's yard the whole time they toiled in the hot sun.
(I don't know about you, but I know what I would have done...especially since the neighbor was out of town at the time)

You're never fully dressed...

without your shoes!!!

Peach Pedal

I've been riding a little bit lately, and last week decided I wanted to do an event. John offered to watch the boys while I participated in the Peach Pedal, but I decided it would be much more fun to ride together...like the good old days. We arranged for a sitter and headed out on Saturday for our first ride together in quite a while- the Peach Pedal. John was such a sweetheart. He was so nice to sit back and ride this one with me- at my pace, with no pressure. Forty miles to chat and laugh and ride. It was pure bliss. The course was hillier than I remembered (we had done this ride together a few years ago), so I was glad I had John there to literally push me up the last few hills...a skill I'm sure few riders have- riding with one hand on the handle bars and one hand on your partners back.
We had a fantastic time.
Thanks sweetheart. I had a great ride!

A Fun Fourth

This year was the first time we have ever spent the Fourth of July away from family, so we figured we'd better make a party of it! Friday night (the 3rd) we drove an hour away to see what we thought was supposed to be some spectacular firework show, but it ended up being kinda lame. In the end, we had a good time. The boys were good despite the long car ride, the long walk to the park area, the late night, and the HOT weather (the heat was unrelenting even after the sun went down). Tyler got to ride a few carnival rides, I had cold M&M's and John got his ice cream...we were all pretty happy.

Then on the morning of the fourth, we went to our ward's Fourth of July breakfast and bike parade. We had always wanted to pull off this little stunt with all of our bikes, so we figured it was now or never.

Tyler had a great time decorating the bikes and really enjoyed riding around the church parking lot a few times with the whole family. We like to call it the "Tour de Parking Lot."

Afterwards, Tyler spent some time trying out his tree climbing skills. He keeps trying to climb the scrawny trees in our yard, and on Sundays he gets in trouble for attempting this in his church clothes, so he was pretty pleased to be swinging from the branches.
(Sorry Jen. You probably had no idea that we happily helped your cute daughter join Tyler up there in the trees when she so sweetly asked...hope it doesn't make you nervous seeing this).

That evening we had three other families over to join us for a barbecue- complete with games and a slip and slide. And of course, this is about the only picture I took the whole evening. No pictures of the boys in their matching shirts, no pics of the kids having a blast on the slip and slide, no pics of the parents relaxing in the shade, but oh well, we had a great time and will always cherish the memories of our "first family fourth."

I love this game

Tyler 5 months

Robby 8 months
And for this reason, I will never toss out their old baby clothes- just in case we ever have another boy to add to the game!
(Do you see why I laugh when people say that Robby is such a big baby...Tyler was HUGE!)
